The TS 480i is a compact and powerful 12” (300 mm) petrol-powered cut-off machine, designed for professional use in construction, civil engineering, and landscaping. It can be operated handheld or mounted on the FW 20 cart and is supplied as standard with an abrasive cutting wheel.
 
At the heart of the machine is STIHL’s innovative Injection engine technology. The electronically controlled fuel-injection system continuously calculates the optimum fuel quantity and ignition timing in real time, based on data from internal and external sensors. This ensures consistently strong torque, higher power output, and faster cutting speed, all while maintaining compact dimensions and low weight.
 
The TS 480i is powered by a 3.9 kW 2-stroke engine with STIHL 2-MIX technology. This delivers excellent fuel efficiency with reduced emissions, fully compliant with EU Stage V emission standards. The engine runs on a petrol-oil fuel mix, is low-maintenance, and provides reliable high performance under heavy load.
 
Starting is made straightforward with a combination of aids: a manual fuel pump reduces the number of pulls required after long breaks, while a decompression valve lowers resistance on the starter cord. The ElastoStart system further smooths the starting process, protecting the operator from kickback forces.
 
The TS 480i features STIHL’s electronic water control system, making dust suppression and cooling highly efficient. With the press of a button, the water supply is automatically activated during cutting and stopped at idle. Flow can be adjusted precisely with plus and minus buttons without releasing the handles, ensuring effective dust control while conserving water.
 
A long-life air filter system with cyclone pre-separation extends filter service intervals. Around 80% of dust particles are separated from the intake air before reaching the filter, ensuring consistent engine performance even in dusty environments.
 
For operator comfort, the STIHL anti-vibration system significantly reduces vibration levels transmitted to the handles, minimising fatigue during extended use. The ergonomic handle design provides a secure grip and allows precise guidance of the cut, making it easy to follow marked lines with accuracy.
 
The robust cast magnesium guard incorporates a water channel for effective debris control while maintaining a clear view of the cutting wheel. Semi-automatic belt tensioning ensures the drive belt remains correctly tensioned, extending the service life of both the belt and bearings.
 
The TS 480i offers a maximum cutting depth of 100 mm with a 12” / 300 mm wheel. With its combination of compact design, fuel-injection technology, and intelligent water control, it delivers outstanding cutting performance with reduced emissions and excellent operator comfort.
